“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 A pit is a pit and I often need God’s strong grip to pull me up and out of one. I can put on a ‘Stepford’ smile. I can questions God’s love, doubt His love and I even build in conditions to His love. Sometimes I don’t feel God’s nudges to how He wants me to live. Some of the time it’s only when a crisis develops before I make a choice to follow God’s will in my life. Like a prescription, I need to take regular dose of scripture, then have a constant conversation with God. Only then do I feel more affirmed of His love for me. I start to realize I have God’s foundation in my head but I don’t let my life transform into the kind of life He wants me to lead. You know, I attend church, sing praises of His love and walk out the door! Knowing God is easy, it’s the ‘walk’ thats hard. Knowing the spiritual jargon, being able to recite a piece of scripture doesn’t mean anything unless I can actually live by the instructions I read from Christ Himself. “But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” (Matthew 7:26-27)
I need to remember, sand is only soothing when I squish it between my toes while walking on a beach near the ocean!
